At the request of Minister Miklos Kasler, Minister of Human Capacities in Hungary, iPRI prepared a background document (Boyle et al, 2019) which demonstrated the inequalities which exist in mortality rates and the need to strengthen regional cooperation in cancer treatment, diagnosis and prevention. Details of mortality from chronic disease are available on this website.

The participants reaffirmed their consent as regards the need to share their methods and best practices of cancer control while supporting regional-level research and development as well as innovation activities to favour the future-oriented and productive development of Oncology. This is a development of considerable importance and the initiative of the Government of Hungary, particularly Minister Kasler, to develop this Academy has the potential to accelerate patient outcomes in this large geographic region.
