Declaration in the Fields of Oncological Training, Research and Development among the Countries of the Central and Eastern European and the Central Asian Region
Representatives of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia met on 12th June, 2019 in Budapest for the first Regional Ministerial Conference on Partnership and Cooperation in Oncology in order to express their commitment in line with the goals of establishing the Central and Eastern European Academy of Oncology.
They signed a Declaration in the Fields of Oncological Training, Research and Development among the Countries of the Central and Eastern European and the Central Asian Region.

At the request of Minister Miklos Kasler, Minister of Human Capacities in Hungary, iPRI prepared a background document (Boyle et al, 2019) which demonstrated the inequalities which exist in mortality rates and the need to strengthen regional cooperation in cancer treatment, diagnosis and prevention. The participants reaffirmed their consent as regards the need to share their methods and best practices of cancer control while supporting regional-level research and development as well as innovation activities to favour the future-oriented and productive development of Oncology. To this end, the participants support the launch of the Central and Eastern European Academy of Oncology.
This is a development of considerable importance and the initiative of the Government of Hungary, particularly Minister Kasler, to develop this Academy has the potential to accelerate patient outcomes in this large geographic region.
