MOU with National Center of Oncology, Azerbaijan

The International Prevention Research Institute and the National Center of Oncology of the Republic of Azerbaijan are delighted to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding. The focus of this collaboration will be around improving prospects for Cancer Prevention and Control through education, improving cancer prevention strategies, organising joint conferences, symposia or other scientific meetings on Cancer Prevention and Control and participation in the activities of the Alliance of Cancer Institutes.

The Azerbaijan National Center of Oncologyis a scientific research institution that investigates oncological diseases and specializes in oncologic treatment. Professor Jamil Aliyev is the President of the Institute. The centre contains a modern Cancer Treatment facility with more than six hundred beds.
The centre has a long history, with the initial idea to create an oncological centre for research and treatment of cancer (Azerbaijani Scientific-Research Institute of Roentgen-Radiology) dating from 1941. In 1995, the name was changed to the National Center of Oncology (NCO) of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
