Mamadou Diop

iPRI would like to welcome our most recent Senior Research Fellow, Professor Mamadou Diop.

Professor Mamadou Diop received his Doctorate Degree in Medicine in 1993 at the Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar in Senegal. From January 1989 to December 1992 he was in intern in different surgical departments of the Dakar University Teaching Hospitals. After his Doctorate in 1993, he grow from teaching assistant (1990-1994) to assistant (1994-2001), assistant professor (2002-2004) and full professor (2012).

In 2007 he was appointed Director of the Cancer Institute of Dakar, Aristide Le Dantec University Hospital, and Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar. From 2007 to 2008 he was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Howard University Cancer Center in Washington DC (United States of America). Since 2009 he is the Cancer Focal Person in the Senegalese Ministry of Health and since 2012 he is Full professor for Medicine, Anatomy at the Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar.

Professor Diop is part of several organizations like Senegales Society of Surgery (1995), the French Foundation of Digestive Cancerology (2001), the West African College of Surgeons (2007) and since 2008 the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

He is author or co-author of several articles in peer-reviewed journals.
