Mamadou Diop receives award at NCID 2018

Mamadou Diop is Professor of Medicine and Director of the Cancer Institute of Dakar in Senegal (institute Joliot-Curie service de de cancérologie de l’hôpital A. Le Dantec). This is the only Hospital in Sénégal which is dedicated to cancer. The Institute is affilliated to the Université Cheikh Anta Diop.
Professor Diop is devoted to cancer treatment and is a strong supporter of patients’ rights. His centre sees patients from all over Senegal, many of whom travel great distances to arrive at his centre.
Since 2009 he is the Cancer Focal Person in the Senegalese Ministry of Health and works closely with the Senegal League Against Cancer (LISCA). In these roles he has been prominent in bringing about changes in the treatment and management of cancer patients in Dakar.

His committment to his patients and his tireless work to improve Cancer Control in Senegal has led directly to considerable progress in Senegal.. At the annual meeting of the National Cancer Institute Directors (July, 2018) he was presented with the World Prevention Alliance/International Prevention Research Institute for his contribution to Cancer Control.
