Twalib Ngoma receives award at NCID 2018

Professor Twalib Ngoma is a Radiotherapist who currently works in Muhimbili University Hospital. He is the founder of Tanzania’s National Cancer Institute based at the Ocean Road Cancer Institute. Twalib has been a leading figure in Oncology in Africa and is a former President of AORTIC (African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer).
After working in the United Kingdom, Dr Ngoma returned to Tanzania and has played a leading role in developing Cancer Services in his country. He has dedicated much of his career to improving cancer services in Tanzania. He is widely known and respected internationally and his advice is frequently sought by international organisations. He is a member of editorial board of eCancer Journal, Journal of Global Oncology , Journal of Infectious Agents and Cancer and State of Oncology in Africa Report. He has a demonstrated record of accomplished and productive research projects in cancer and palliative care.

In recognition of his outstanding lifetime contribution to Cancer Control, Professor Ngoma was presented with the World Prevention Alliance / International Prevention Research Institute Medal at the recent meeting of the National Cancer Institute Directors meeting in Lyon, France (July, 2018).
