Trish Scanlan receives award at NCID 2018

Dr Scanlan is a Paediatric Oncologist who left her native Ireland to work in Muhimbili Hospital in Dar-es-Salam, Tanzania. Since her arrival the survival from childhood cancer has increased quite dramatically.
She has re-organised the treatment pathway for children and established true collaborations with leading institutes such as Our Lady’s Hospital Crumlin in Dublin, Ireland.

Her work has been inspirational and the outcome for children who develop cancer has improved enormously. At the annual meeting of the National Cancer Institute Directors (July, 2018) she was presented with the World Prevention Alliance/International Prevention Research Institute for her contribution to Cancer Control.
