NCID 2018

June 18, 2018

The thirteenth meeting of National Cancer Institute Directors will take place in Lyon between 11th and 13th July, 2018 as decided last year. The previous meeting attracted 100 participants from 50 countries at varying levels of income and resource. The 2018 meeting has already attracted a great deal of interest and several projects initiated at our last meeting have come to fruition and the results will be presented this year.

The focus on cancer care will continue to increase with the sharing of experience in a wide variety of resource settings highlighted. The highlights this year will include the presentation of the Indochine Cancer Consortium, the “Gan Survivors Club” and a broad discussion of “Pathways of Care”. There will be presentations about new technologies for the early detection of ovarian cancer and the programme will benefit from the input of the patient perspective (IAPO).

The World Prevention Alliance medal will be presented to Trish Scanlan, Twalib Ngoma and Mamadou Diop in recognition of their outstanding contribution to Oncology in Africa.
