Internships in Biostatistics and Epidemiology

The International Prevention Research Institute (iPRI; www.i-pri.org) is an independent research institute with an outstanding faculty of demonstrated leadership in many fields of epidemiology, health technology assessment and disease prevention. iPRI has experience in epidemiological research and macro health planning with a record of delivering real health and economic value to a range of public and private sources including governments, universities, research institutes, non-governmental organisations and large multi-national concerns. iPRI has established, coordinated and participated in a wide range of activities since its founding in April, 2009, many of which have resulted in publications in peer-review journals (http://www.i-pri.org/publications/).
iPRI proposes 3 to 6 months internships (for Masters students) in the field of biostatistics and epidemiology. The exact topic of the internship will be defined together with the student and will deal with general themes such as:
– Diabetes Mellitus biomarkers and cancer risk
– Prevalence of tobacco use in Africa
– Vitamin D and cancer risk
Supervision of students will be provided by senior researchers at iPRI (also Professors at Strathclyde University, Glasgow) and by senior statisticians.
The students should be familiar with at least one statistical package (R, SAS, Stata, etc) and should have a good knowledge of the English language.
