iPRI continues to strengthen its ties to Vietnam’s Hospital K and the Vietnamese Ministry of Health. Following on the recent signing of an MOU between iPRI and Vietnam, several iPRI scientists were present at a recent meeting to share best practices in Breast Cancer diagnostics and treatment.

Professor Van Thuan, Director of Hospital K in Hanoi, insisted on the need to increase efforts to fight Breast Cancer which is on the rise in Vietnam. “Breast Cancer has now reached a milestone of 28.1 cases per 100,000 women.” This said, Prof. Van Thuan is proud to report the considerable improvements in patient survival rates attained at Hospital K having increased it from 67.7% in the 1990’s to 85.6% today.

iPRI’s delegation was greeted by Vietnam’s Minister of Health Mrs. Nguyên Thi Kim Tiênwas. The delegation was headed by Professor Philippe Autier, iPRI Vice-President Population Research.

Professor Peter Boyle, who recently signed the MOU with Vietnam’s Hospital K, is particularly pleased that the collaboration has begun so quickly and with such focus on improving Vietnam’s response to this and other Public Health concerns.
